What is an energy audit?
An energy audit is a systematic review of a company's energy use and consumption. It identifies economic efficiency potential and creates a verifiable map of energy flows. The methodological basis is typically DIN EN 16247; our assurance is delivered under ISAE 3000 or ISRS 4400.
In contrast to an internal review, an audited energy audit produces an external auditor's report that can be used vis-à-vis authorities, OEM customers, and in the management report.
Which standards we apply
ISAE 3000 (Limited Assurance) — we express a limited-assurance conclusion on your energy consumption and documented savings potential. Required when the report has to serve multiple addressees (OEMs, CSRD, authorities).
ISRS 4400 (Agreed-Upon Procedures) — pre-defined procedures on energy data, contracts, and meters, reported as factual findings without an opinion. Efficient, typically 2–3 auditor days.
Methodologically we follow DIN EN 16247-1 (general) and — where applicable — parts -2 (buildings), -3 (processes), and -4 (transport). When an ISO 50001 energy management system is in place, we integrate its logic.
When do I need an energy audit?
ZF or other OEM supplier
Your OEM customer requires evidence of energy use and CO₂ reduction. We verify an energy audit under ISAE 3000 / ISRS 4400 — either standalone or integrated with the green electricity / Scope 2 engagement.
EnEfG obligation
The German Energy Efficiency Act requires companies with annual energy consumption above 7.5 GWh to operate an energy or environmental management system, or to submit an energy audit. We verify the evidence.
CSRD / ESRS E1
ESRS E1 datapoints on energy consumption, energy mix, and transition plans require robust evidence. Our energy audit forms the basis for the limited assurance of your sustainability report.
